Angella is 21 years old and was rescued from Ruti a trading center in the suburbs of Mbarara City which is a stopover for the Trucks. She was trafficked into sex at 13 years; we rescued her 5 years ago. She started learning tailoring at St. Francis Tailoring School. One evening Angella came back home brimming with joy. She was holding a beautiful bag. Holding it out confidently she said, “uncle I made this bag.” I snatched it from her and gave it a thorough check and indeed it was beautiful, I couldn’t believe it because it really looked authentic and durable.
It was hard to believe that she could do something that beautiful. A few years back she was hopeless and a school dropout and ended up in Ruti Trading Center without any choice other than prostitution but now she has a skill that can help her generate an income. The Winning Women Rescue Program helped her to graduate with skills in tailoring and design.
